A new years resolution: a new project for 2012

My new years resolution is to write a blog each day during 2012. I’ll continue to post about the concerts that I attend, but will also try to write something to this site every day. For many of these, I’ll select a concert that I attended in the past, and make a record of that concert by scanning the ticket and programme, where I have one.  I’ll also google a setlist where I can find one, and include any memories of the show that  I have (which may be tricky as my memory is not good these days). I’ve decided to do this alphabetically, and as I write this update in August 2012, I am just about through letter C. At this rate its going to take me at east 4 or 5 years to complete this project! Still its fun, doing it.

This will take me back to the late 60s, 70s and through to the present. and will include concerts by The Who, Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Abba, T Rex, The Sex Pistols, The Clash, Kate Bush and events such as Reading Festivals, Donington Monsters of Rock, Live Aid and Live 8, and significant recent reunions such as Zeppelin at the O2 and Cream at the Albert Hall. I’ve just checked, and I have over 1,000 ticket stubs, so there should be plenty to choose from. I may also include my recollections of some significant gigs where I don’t have a ticket stub, such as club gigs, or gigs where the ticket was given up at the door.

About me

Hi My name is Peter and I have finally come clean and admitted to myself that I am totally addicted to going to rock concerts.  I have also realised that all attempts at treatment are futile, and anyway I don’t want to be cured! This blog is part of my treatment, in creating a permanent record of all of the gigs that I have ever been to (or at least those I can remember)!. I also have a collection of concert programmes from concerts that I have been to (I have almost always bought a programme) and will be scanning these in and inlcuding them as part of the site.
